Storetec Ltd are proud to sponsor Swing4Africa - a night of swing and magic in aid of the Act4Africa backed project ‘The Girl Effect’

Today, more than 600 million girls live in the developing world. Girls living in poverty are uniquely capable of creating a better future. But when a girl reaches adolescence, she comes to a crossroads.

By the age of 12 to some people a girl is thought of as women. By the age of 14 she could be married and pregnant by 15. To support her family she may be forced to sell her body, which opens her to the possibility of contracting HIV & AIDs.

This does not have to happen. With the right help and support, girls can stay in school to finish their education, get married when they are ready and use their education to support their families.

This is The Girl Effect. Providing the help, support and education to help girls brought up in poverty to have choices, and make the right ones.

Strictly Swing4Africa is an event solely to raise money for such a worthy project that really can make a difference.  - http://www.girleffect.org/video

The night is a swing inspired night of entertainment on 24th Feb, at KP Club, Pocklington, in aid of Act4Africa. Tickets are £18 and doors open at 8pm until 1am. Dress smartly to impress.

The event includes: canapes, a welcome drink, a magician, swing singers, a DJ, fireworks, a photographer and a raffle with some fantastic prizes!

Five councils breached the Data Protection Act by failing to keep people’s personal information secure, Information Commissioner, Christopher Graham, said today.

Information Commissioner, Christopher Graham said:

“At a time when councils are increasingly working with community partners, when data is shared it is vital that they uphold their legal responsibilities under the Data Protection Act. Failures not only put local residents’ privacy at risk, but also mean that councils could be in line for a sizeable monetary penalty.

Severe weather

Drivers are being warned of treacherous conditions, with ice and fog, on the roads across north Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire

In East Yorkshire, gritters worked through the weekend to clear hundreds of miles of roads after 5-10cm (2-4in) of snow fell.

East Riding Council said major routes had been kept clear but some minor roads were not treated.

The public is being advised to prepare for travel disruption.

The companies in question, Direct Line and Churchill were fined by the FSA for failing to prevent files requested by the FSA being improperly altered. Of the 50 requested files, 27 were found to be altered improperly before the they were submitted because the firms failed to act with due skill, care and diligence

This heightens the importance of storing records and documents in a none editable document management system so customers and clients can be reassured that no mal practice is possible. Management can also be confident that all documents will be handled in the proper manner in accordance with the FSA.

Understanding Cultural Requirements

I saw a wi-fi placard in a hotel recently and laughed that it still touted the service as being "50 times faster than dialup." I can't remember the last time I even owned a computer with a modem, much less care about that useless comparison.

Industry Predictions for 2012

Posted by: Storetec in MyBlog

Tagged in: In the News

Great article, well worth a read -

Each year I have done industry projections either by myself or with AIIM’s former Emerging Technologies (EmTAG) group. For the most part the projections involve looking at trends and trying to figure out evolution. But this year, the dynamics are more volatile than ever before when it comes to ECM and related technologies. If none of these predictions comes true, you can still take it to the bank that 2012 is going to be one of the most transformative years in the history of our industry.

Let’s get to it.

Its 2012 - Prepare for the Cloud!

Posted by: Storetec in MyBlog

Tagged in: In the News

Is 2012 the year to start thinking about moving part or all ECM functions into the cloud? I know the word “cloud” is beginning to (has?) be overexposed but nevertheless, cloud technologies offer great solutions today and even better solutions on the horizon. There are many cloud information management (CIM) systems that provide everything from simple storage to complete content management systems and it is probable that people in your company are already using CIM systems or other cloud applications for ERP, CRM, PM, calendaring, and of course, social networking.

CSO — Data protection and freedom of information are under threat from the continuing economic recession, according to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) - which has published its strategy for the coming year and beyond.

Information Commissioner Cristopher Graham said that data protection and freedom of information were "too often seen as a mere 'back office' function to be cut".
