Storetec has for a number of years provided document scanning and storage services for one of the area’s largest and most advanced dental practices. Storetec have recently completed the digitisation of the 543 Dental’s entire patient record archive from its main Anlaby Road, Hull site.

“Everyone knows the name of Groombridge in Hull when you mention Dentistry, so for us having 543 on board as a client was great. Add to this the fact that they are innovators and believe firmly in the benefits of technology it makes working with them a real pleasure.

The patient record project has seen us scan over 1.3 million images over the last couple of years. This has resulted in shredding and recycling 8.9 tonnes of paper on 543’s behalf. 543 Dental are one of only a handful of practices in the Yorkshire region who can boast paper free archives.” Explained David Wilkinson, Sales Director of Storetec

This continued investment in innovation has seen 543 Dental launch a pioneering new website www.543junior.co.uk – an oral health education website aimed at children, young people, their parents and teachers. It’s a really fun and interesting site designed to educate in all aspects of good oral health.

This website encourages children of all ages to look after their teeth. Research has shown that if children look after their teeth from an early age the likelihood is they will continue to do so for the rest of their lives.

The site is an ideal tool to encourage the whole family to embrace good oral health routines and habits and to reduce poor oral health’s negative impact on general health, including its links to coronary heart disease and strokes.

The website is free for all to use and is a standalone website with no commercial services or materials.  It is packed full of information regarding healthy snacks, help with tooth brushing techniques and guidance on which dental treatments are available for your child at different stages in their development.

In the children’s sections there are numerous age related games and activities for them to take part in. To reinforce the importance of good oral health the site also includes sections for parents and teachers where they can access educational information and materials relevant to dental health issues.

The website has been commissioned by 543 Dental Centre, based in Hull, East Yorkshire. The centre has a fresh forward thinking approach to educating children to look after their teeth from an early age.

534 has already received the backing of scores of schools and private agencies – and we hope you get on board too – so please do take a look and get on board!

You would think that if a person was working for NASA and he or she was carrying sensitive information around on a laptop, security of said laptop would be high. There would be encryption. The computer would not be left where it could be stolen. There is, after all, important information on it -- such as the algorithms used to control the space station, for example.

Storetec Ltd are proud to sponsor Swing4Africa - a night of swing and magic in aid of the Act4Africa backed project ‘The Girl Effect’

Today, more than 600 million girls live in the developing world. Girls living in poverty are uniquely capable of creating a better future. But when a girl reaches adolescence, she comes to a crossroads.

By the age of 12 to some people a girl is thought of as women. By the age of 14 she could be married and pregnant by 15. To support her family she may be forced to sell her body, which opens her to the possibility of contracting HIV & AIDs.

This does not have to happen. With the right help and support, girls can stay in school to finish their education, get married when they are ready and use their education to support their families.

This is The Girl Effect. Providing the help, support and education to help girls brought up in poverty to have choices, and make the right ones.

Strictly Swing4Africa is an event solely to raise money for such a worthy project that really can make a difference.  - http://www.girleffect.org/video

The night is a swing inspired night of entertainment on 24th Feb, at KP Club, Pocklington, in aid of Act4Africa. Tickets are £18 and doors open at 8pm until 1am. Dress smartly to impress.

Though I think the term is generally useless as either an analytical tool or category of computing that large entities can and should use in planning strategy, I’m not quite ready to give up on the idea that “the cloud” does have at least some worthwhile content. And after three days at the Cloud Expo, I’d like to suggest a simple signature of cloudiness that seems to fit everything I’ve seen with the sole exception of Oracle’s “cloud” offerings. Here’s my idea: it’s “cloud” at the platform and infrastructure layers if users can provision their own resources via some automated system.
